Vintage reading: not so much

Regular vintage readers (both of you, plus those folks in Sweden who keep searching for "Brownie uniform pinups") might have noticed that there's been very little activity around here recently. The reason for that is that Mr. Vintage Reader and I have a new baby, and unlike most other new babies that come home with you, and eventually the novelty wears off and you get back to your usual activities, this one is still at the hospital, where he's been for two weeks now, and he's not coming home any time soon. I've tried a couple of times to get back to blogging, but somehow it's just not holding my interest right now (imagine!), so I probably won't be posting much for a while.

Instead, I'm going to link to a more carefree December when I posted instructions for fun holiday crafts and was worried about what to wear to my department's holiday party.

Robert Sheckley

Robert Sheckley died today. Robert Sheckley was probably the first of the old-school science fiction writers I read. He didn't ever stop writing; as recently as maybe six months ago I read a post by him on a science fiction forum, and he talked about going out for a short walk, and not feeling well, and trying to write. What a neat guy.
